Thanks for this. As a clinical psychologist I am not sure I agree with you about therapists 'usually' having had a rough childhood. And that this is the reason they enter the field. Some might, but I don't think you can generalise and say 'most'. I would hate a potential client to read this piece and then asume they know their therapist's likely childhood. 'Occasionally' or 'might' would possibly be better?
